Description- This pieces is a marriage of geometric and woven cardboard applications.

Inspiration- I was inspired by the results of techniques I used in previous works in the CB series and wanted to incorporate them in one cohesive piece. This journey started with weaving pieces of randomly cut cardboard strips and painting the woven mat with several clear coats of encaustic medium. These coats sealed the cardboard and acted as an adhesive ensuring the woven strips stayed in place. Focusing on the circular cardboard, I painted layers of encaustic lapis blue to introduce color then began applying gold encaustic using a dry brush technique to achieve a subtle bumpy texture to the final layer and decided to showcase this piece on a subtle yellow/gold encaustic backdrop.
