Terry Talbot opened Gallery 2118 in 2010 after having run a portrait/wedding business out of his home on Division St since 1983.
Previously the gallery had been home to a printscreen shop, before that an upholstery shop in the 50's, and had been built as a grocery store in 1887, when Atwood Ave was a still a dirt road. The grocery store had a rival in the 1920's when the Schenk family opened a large grocery store and butcher shop on the corner where Lao Lang Xaan is now. By then Atwood Ave was paved and was one of the cities earliest trolley car routes. The rails are still there, under the pavement.
Terry began his career as an art photographer in 1971, while still a student at the UW. In 1983 he was listed in Arts in America, and had by then had numerous individual as well as group shows which he continues to have today. Terry's most recent exhibition was at the prestigeous Promega Art Showcase Sept - Nov 2024.
